From Our Kitchen to Your Door: The Journey of One Meal

Long before most of Lincoln County has finished its morning coffee, the lights are already on in the LCCOA kitchen in Troy. Pots are warming, coolers are lined up, and volunteers are greeting one another like family. Every meal that leaves this building carries the fingerprints of many caring hands.

The journey is simple but meaningful. Cooks prepare food with the same attention they would give their own table. Packers double‑check labels and special diets. Drivers load their routes—some heading toward Elsberry and Silex, others toward Moscow Mills or the back roads of Winfield—bringing along a smile to match the meal.

A Route Full of Stories

Ask any Lincoln County volunteer driver and they’ll tell you the best part isn’t the miles—it’s the people.

  • The neighbor who waits by the window to wave

  • The dog that knows the sound of the car

  • The quick chat about the weather or the Cardinals

  • The relief of knowing someone will check in again tomorrow

These are small moments, but they build a bridge across our county, one doorstep at a time.

Community Love in Motion

By the time a tray is set on a kitchen table in Troy Missouri, it represents far more than lunch. It represents donors who gave, volunteers who showed up, and a community that believes no one should feel forgotten.

If you’ve ever wondered whether ordinary acts matter, spend a morning on a meal route and you’ll have your answer.
